Alibaba describes Fulani herdsmen as the new power brokers in Nigeria

Ace comedian, Alibaba has described Fulani herdsmen as the power brokers in Nigeria. According to him, they are more powerful than oil and gas moguls as they can do whatever they want and get away with it. He wrote;
These are the new power brokers.... not those in oil and gas. If anyone in oil and gas sends anyone to beat up... not kill... just beat up, they will see what is called the long arm of the law. But these guys? They can walk all over your cassava farm, burn down your houses, raise down a village, kill the villagers... and walk off.
And they only carry a stick. Just a stick. If you say who is is more powerful, security agencies or theses cattle rarers... heads or tail... herds men!!!

I kidnapped my boss’s son because he refused to settle me after my serving him for 5 years- Suspect says

23 year old suspected kidnapper, Celestine Chimaobi, has told the police in Lagos state that he kidnapped his boss's son, Emeka Chukwuyere, at Alafia in the Orile-Iganmu area of Lagos state recently because the father refused to settle him after he had served him for 5 years.

Celestine who was arrested alongside his friend at Apapa, told the police that after serving for five years, his boss took him to the village in Imo state and left him there without any settlement.

“I served my boss for five years at Mandilas (Lagos Island). After serving him, he took me to my village in Imo State and refused to settle me. So, I returned to Lagos and kidnapped his son, so that he would settle me.” He went on the kidnap mission with his friend, Emmanuel. “I told Emmanuel that the boy was my brother and that he would be staying with me for some days. He didn’t know I kidnapped the boy. He saw the boy when he came to the hotel and asked me who he was. Then, I told him he’s my brother and that he came to spend some time with me. The next time he came, he saw the boy and I told him the boy would leave on Monday. Then, on Tuesday, we met on the road and I begged him to escort me to the bank so that I can collect money from the Automated Teller Machine (ATM). That’s how we were arrested. I singlehandedly kidnapped the boy. I wanted his father to pay the ransom and I would use it as my settlement. I worked for him for five years. He’s from Okija in Anambra State and I have been selling clothes for him at Mandialas. In the agreement he had with my parents before he took me, he promised to settle me after four years. He started to count my apprenticeship from 2014. In 2016 when he was supposed to settle me, he opened another shop and asked me to be paying him N20,000 monthly. I could not cope because of the recession in the country, so I asked him to settle me as agreed but he refused, rather he sent me back to the village. I came back early January and I stayed in a hotel. It was then that the idea of how to kidnap his son came to me. Last Monday around 7:30am, I laid ambush around the house and picked the boy on his way to school. The boy emerged around 7:45am. He came to me when I called him and I took him away. I called my Oga on phone the next day to pay N5 million into my account if he wants to see his son again. I sent him my account number. I was on my way to collect my ATM card from the bank on Apapa Road when I was arrested. I never knew that police were on my trail.”
He will be charged to court soon.

Photos: Press Briefing by Customs boss on seizure of 661 pump-action rifles concealed in container

Officers and men of Nigeria Customs Service, FOU Zone A, Ikeja intercepted 661 pump-action rifles concealed in a container on Monday, January 30th. Below is the briefing by the comptroller-General of Customs, Col Hameed Ali.

Gentlemen of the press.

It is my pleasure to brief you on the recent gains of Nigeria Customs Service anti-smuggling operations. On Sunday 22nd January 2017, the Roving Team of the NCS Federal Operations Unit while on information patrol intercepted a Mack truck with registration number BDG 265 XG conveying a 1x40ft Container with Number: PONU/825914/3along Mile 2 Apapa road
2. The truck was immediately taken to the premises of FOU Zone A,Ikeja where Physical examination revealed49 boxes containing a total number of 661 pieces of pump action rifles concealed with steal doors and other merchandize goods
3. These Rifles are under absolute prohibition; therefore its importation is illegal. Such deadly contravention of the law is even more unacceptable considering the fragile security situation in some parts of the country.
4. Already three suspects have been arrested in connection with this illegal importation. They are:
Mr. Oscan Okafor (Importer) age 51
Mr. Mahmud Hassan (Clearing Agent) age 56
Mr. Sadique Mustapha (accompanying the consignment to its destination) age 28.
5. Investigation has already commenced and I have directed that the drag net should be wide enough to fish out all persons involved in the importation and clearing of the consignment. Already, the Officers involved in the clearance of this container are with the Comptroller FOU Zone ‘A’Ikeja.
6. This seizure underscores the determination of the Serviceto enforce all laws relating to importation and exportation of goods into and out of Nigeria thereby contributing to the economy, security and wellbeing of the Country.
7. This feat is no doubt commendable and represents the new normal in the service where most Officers and Men are on a daily basis ensuring that illegalities are not allowed unchecked. I commend the Comptroller, all Officers and Men involved in this great seizure.
8. Let me seize this opportunity to call on all well meaning Nigerians to support the service with information that could assist the Service perform their statutory responsibilities in the interest of our father land.
8. Thank you for your attention.
